The 1st Light of Dawn Tournament | Labyrinth of Champions | Phase 1 | Entrant #2 - Ziio Aarushi

Your counter hits the flaming green birds.  They reel back in pain.  You took the opportunity to strike, but perhaps they are not so mindless as you thought.  You could've ended this fight within minutes if you had been lucky.  But as stated before...there is no luck within this labyrinth.  Only darkness, evil and death.  The cold stench of death.  You cannot luck out in this place.  No.

The demons avoid your attack, your second waves of arrows.  They screech angrily, they want your blood on their talons.  Their beaks seek to rip through your entrails.  You had best take cover, or at least counter again!  Something, anything.  Just don't die Champion.  Not here.  We wont be able to get your body out if you do.

The demons come for you, their claws and beaks and flames aiming for anything of your body they can grab.  Dodge, fight, but do something!

While Ziio's attack was deflected at first, she was determined not to give up. Ever since discovering her role as the Avatar, she had changed slightly. She started to understand that her obligations had changed. No longer was she left to worry only about herself and her wolf pack. Now her obligations were to the people of the world. The people she felt she failed by spending years in seclusion in the arctic tundra. The people she once hated, and mocked and hid from.

People who now depended on her to save them, even if they didn't know it. Even if they didn't know her by name, they knew the Avatar. They knew the Avatar would come back. There was something else bothering Ziio about the Avatar position as of late. Something she did not wish to voice to any other. But now was not the time for it. Now was the time to counter.

And counter she did. She pulled the same attack. Aiming arrows at the shoulder joints of the flaming, demon birds. Despite their madness driving them further, no amount of madness could further their ability to fly with their bony pinion joints permanently damaged. The beasts were grounded, and now that they were, Ziio aimed and fired her arrows again, going in for the kill.

The birds die away, screeching a horrible, ear splitting screech.  You can feel your ear drums rupture and they bleed slightly.  Your vision swims and blurs from the high-pitched, unison scream.  You think you black on but you're not sure, all you know is you wake up on the floor in front of a pile of smoulder, emerald green ashes.  The Fire Hawks are dead, gone, and yet...not.  You feel something moving around in the pile of ash.

You reach towards it to see what it is.  It could be these hawks are like a Phoenix, able to regenerate when they die, or maybe it's just your imagine but truly there's only one way to find out.  Will you be lucky champion or will your hopes all be dashed by a trick of the light?

You see a Fel Firehawk burst forth from the ashes. But this one is not here to attack you. It is subservient to you. It recognizes new strength, a new master. It is your new mount, yours to command and control only. You have broken the hold of its dark masters, but the corrupted taint will never go away. That is something that the beast must forever get used to.

You proceed to head on together, but that is not your destiny. No. No it is not...the world shakes again. You don't know what's happening. You try to run, but you're too late. The floor falls away at your feet, and you find yourself thrown into another twisting nether between the worlds. You don't know where you're going. Your can't see anything in the torrent of darkness. Then finally the world spits you out.

You awaken on the other side of the portal, and find yourself standing before the massive keep. It's dark masters are tired of you ruining their plans. They will end you themselves. You find yourself standing beside two different adventurers who are there to help you. Together, the three of you are to climb the keep and defeat the demons within. Good luck.
