The 1st Light of Dawn Tournament | Labyrinth of Champions | Phase 1 | Entrant #1 - Audurna Yan

"Welcome all, to the first annual Light of Dawn Tournament! This tournament challenges the strongest of the strong, the bravest of the brave, the most daring of champions the Six Nations has to offer!

The Avatar cannot watch the world alone; the Avatar cannot guard billions of people all at once, and so the duty falls not only to us, but to you the people to defend yourselves and each other. You must fight to protect what is dear to you, to protect world peace and balance. To preserve these lands for generations to come!

We the Dawn Crusade have started this tournament for that purpose. To weed out potential candidates. To help us fight so that there will always be a dawn tomorrow! We the Holy Paladins of Light!

Now, without further ado, let the tournament begin! Champions, brave the labyrinth and do not look back, for hesitance will only get you killed. Brave the Labyrinth and find your way to Drak'Tharon Keep...those who cannot make it...well, you will have to fight your way out of Gun'Drak.

Good luck champions, and remember: from light comes comes, and from darkness, light. Let your passion be your light in the dark."

Those are the last words you hear before you step into the stone Labyrinth and the stone doors slam shut behind you. You've got enough food to last five weeks, and some basic first aid supplies for when things get grim. Otherwise it's you, your instincts and the voice in your head telling you you can do this, you can win. Just keep walking; that's in, one foot in front of the other. Left, right, left, right, left right, shit.

A few steps in and you're presented with your first choice. Left, right or forward. The path forks into three different, new paths. Each dark and foreboding. You think you hear growling down the left path. Something down the middle path gives you chills and makes you feel cold and hopeless, while the third path...something's watch you--maybe. Maybe because you feel like something's been watching you since you first walked into this maze. But do you have the guts to face it? To see if it, whatever "it" is, is there, waiting for you?

The choice is yours Champion. Pick your path, decide your fate, and fight to the death to defend it.

Audurna didn't like the grey-stone walls of the labyrinth. They were cold, forbodding, and what was worse, they were wet. Slimy and stick with...saliva? Moisture? Why were they damp? What was in this...oh great that was a pool of blood to her left, that's what she needs. Of all the damn places for her uncle to bring to the mainland, why Drak'Tharon? The ancient kingdom was cursed and no one knew why.

Why did a bunch of innocent civilians have to go in and find out why? There's a reason Fire Lord Zuko built the labyrinth. It was to keep everything INSIDE the damn kingdom. Damn Zuko for never detailing what the hell it was they were trying to keep in. All he said was that no one should ever try and excavate the kingdom ever again.

Great, helpful, very helpful. Audurna sighed. She was probably going to find out soon what was inside the labyrinth, and why the Kingdom of Drak'Tharon, and the Drak'Tharon civilization was destroyed. One day they just...poofed off the map! Then came the crossroads. Well, left, right or centre. Not a whole lot of options. The growling seemed to call Audurna though. She could probably take it out from afar with her knives before the growling beast even became a problem. Good. Good. Left it was.

You go left and realize that the walls start getting dryer and dryer the further you go. Soon things get hotter, steam and heatwaves break the musty air. You feel like you're in an oven, or standing near a volcano. As you approach the first courtyard you see, you realize there's a massive light coming from it. You enter slowly, carefully, calmly, waiting to see if there's any danger inside. The labyrinth is not so forgiving. Before you can decide you want to turn back the door slams shut behind you.

Now you're stuck, and you're stuck here with a flaming molten behemoth with two heads. The beast resembles molten lava formed into a living creature. It breathed flame. It was horrible, with horns and chains and a terrible roar. It say in a pool of lava, which is why there was so much light coming from this courtyard. Well you're stuck now, and the only wait out is forward. Forward means killing this demon. Time to get at it Champion.

The Molten Core Hound comes at you, charging at high speed; surprisingly high speeds for a beast so large and sluggish looking. It breaths flame as it charges, swinging its head around, hoping to spear something with its massive horns. That something, of course, is you. Have fun.

The Core Hound threw Audurna to the side like a rag doll. She hit the stone wall and felt her head knock against the stone. Her vision was blurry and her head swam for a bit before she regained consciousness. By the time she recovered she noticed that the two headed flaming demon had prepared itself for a second charge. Audurna stood herself up, and looked at the demon. The four stared each other down. They glared hard, both demons and Audurna.

The Core Hound stamped its foot and stampeded again, charging, snorting flame and smoke, roaring and growling. With rage, the demon charged Audurna and Audurna jumped in time. Landing on the demons back she drew two daggers and aimed to stab them deep into the two skulls of the multi-headed beast.

The demon screeched horribly and writhed as Audurna landed on its back. It would not take this insult. Nor would it allow her to. Lord Magmaros would not approve of it. Lord Magmaros would not allow it. The Core Hound had to act! It had to do...something. It knew what to do. Running wild, the demon slammed itself into walls, trying to get the child off its back.

Roaring horribly, the demon bucked and tossed and kicked.  Audurna went flying off its back, her daggers flying in the opposite direction. The demon ran around triumphantly trumpeting a roar of victory over Alyssandra. It had countered her attack and now it was time to relatiate. The demon inhaled deeply, and unleashed a torrent of molten breath towards Audurna, hoping to roast her alive.

Before you have a chance to defend, the Gods call down from above as a ray of light hits you.  Your opponent is frozen in mid-movement.  He will not be frozen long; just long enough for you to hear words whispered from above.  The Goddess Elounli.  She blesses you with her endless love or humans.  She seeks to help you.  She whispers to your mind.


As the light fades and the voice dies away, your enemy unfreezes.  You find your attack raised to 10,000 and your maximum health doubled to 100,000.  She could not heal the damage you have taken already, but she did all she could for you.  Go forth Champion, you are blessed and ready to fight a hundred more monsters.  But do not get comfortable; there is still a long ways to go.

Audurna was slammed into the wall. The demon countered her attack, slammed her into the wall, trampled her, then breathed flame all over her. She was bruised, broken and burned. The only thing saving her from death was the blessing of Elounli. Audurna stood up and brushed herself off. She looked at the Core Hound. This bastard was dying. Now. No more fucking around.

With a roar of rage, Audurna ran out of the way of the nearest charged. Dodged flame left, dodged flame right. She grabbed her two daggers, then waited as the beast charged her again. This time, Audurna didn't bother jumping on its back. She merely laid on her back, bent over backwards, and thrust the two blades upwards into the throats of the two heads.
