“Hello folks, and welcome to the first annual Tenkaichi Bending-Kai Heavyweight Semi-Final Round! We are about to begin our first match!” The announcer said into his microphone, the noise blasting over the roaring crowd. The battle would take place in a long, rectangular Imperial Arena. Sand covered the floor, and though rectangular, it had rounded edges. Stands stretched around the outside, and backed into the stands where the private boxes were was the Imperial Palace and the Emperor's Box, as well as mansions and palaces belonging to important nobles who also had their own private boxes attached to their homes.

The entire place was of made of sandstone and marble and was fabulously decorated. A massive golden brazier stood above the Emperor's Box, being supported by two Tengu. It was on fire, and the fire was said to never go out. It was white fire too. In the arena there were several pools of water around the edges. Many tricks and traps were riddled everywhere through this arena, to be activated by Mr. Showbiz's will. Also, because Mr. Showbiz was an asshole, the entire battle took place at night. Showbiz enjoyed tricks like that.

“Today, we'll be witnessing the fierce battle between Kuma Kurebayashi, Trace Nightshadow and Avatar Ziio Aarushi. The gates will open on my mark. With the combatants set, and the battlefield ready for them, let's give them a warm welcome! Now before we begin, let's remind our fighters that they'll each have 500 HP and will roll a random number of 50 instead of 20 for the Heavyweight Matches. Attack Accuracy and Defence stay the same, at 10. Kuma will have the honour of the first strike! Now without further ado...”

“LET THE MATCH BEGIN!”

Kuma Kurebayashi

Kuma was already afraid of the match. He was just a kid from a small village in the Northern Water Tribe. Somehow, he made it to the heavyweight finals, barely beating his last opponent at the last second. He knew he didn't belong here. One look at his opponents was all he needed to confirm that notion. Kuma had met Trace in Ba Sing Se a while back, and he'd seen what she could do in combat. And, of course, he was against the avatar. Of all people, he had to fight the avatar? Was she even allowed to use all of the elements? Kuma hoped not, but he knew that things didn't always go the way he hoped.

He had to pick a target. He could have tried attacking them both, but that means twice the disappointment when they both avoid his attack. He looked at the avatar. She was definitely a water bender at least, and he knew that would create trouble. Trace, on the other hand, was an earth bender. He'd beaten one earth bender, he could do it again. He started off with his classic starting move: taking a giant spike of ice and hurling it straight at Trace.

Trace Nightshadow

Trace walked out, wondering how it was she had gotten that far. Although her abilities were impressive, she hadn't felt like she had really won. Somehow, she had managed to get there by a fluke. She, however, wasn't going to let that little bit slow her down. She saw the water bender and remembered him from her shop, but the lady was new to her. She could assume water bender given the stance she walked out in, but couldn't fully place it until she saw the first attack or defense from her. Trace started to get a bit lost in thought before she noticed the ice spear headed straight for her. She jumped over the ice spear and skidded across the terrain, scrapping her knees and hands where her clothes didn't cover.

Flushed but not frustrated, she turned and threw an series of different stones at Zio, pulling them from the ground and launching them at almost full speed toward the avatar.

Ziio frowned. The attack had such a wide spread. Trace made it almost impossible to avoid. Yet, the damage was minimal. Karasu felt a stone hit her in the side, bruising her, but not doing much else. It was a waste of her attack, but from what she had seen of her opponents so far, their attacks had been mostly duds. They would need to pick up the pace to defeat the Avatar. Ziio looked at Trace and then to Kuma. Kuma looked smug, and Trace looked like someone who wanted a hard earned victory.

Looking at Trace, Ziio pointed at Kuma, implying that she wished to team up with Trace against Kuma. The two could defeat each other after. First, they would need to deal with the Kuma problem. Of course more could've been done if Ziio spoke, but Ziio never spoke, and so she let her actions speak for her as she chucked an ice spear at Kuma's chest.

Kuma blanched. They were going to team up against him. He didn't know if he could even deal with one of them. The two of them combined? He'd have to be taken out of that arena on a stretcher. He had to think of something quick, come up with some plan to defend himself. He'd always heard that the best offense was a good defense, but he was never much of a defensive fighter. Case in point: the spear that opened a long gash across his left arm.

The wound wasn't bad; just a scratch, really. But it had started to bleed. Kuma sighed in disappointment. This shirt was dry clean only. He eyed his opponents carefully. If he attacked Trace, that would only encourage her to team up against him. However, if he attacked Ziio, he'd probably get himself killed. Actually, he'd get himself killed no matter who he attacked. Kuma focused on Ziio. She wanted ice? She would get ice. Kuma extended his arm towards a pool of water. The entire thing froze over and began hurling wickedly sharp pellets of ice at Ziio.

Trace Nightshadow

Trace watched as her hit landed, it wasn't meant to do much damage, just to show that she could in fact do it. She wasn't surprised when Zio nodded to her to team up. Hey, it was encouraged in a three way battle. Made the crowds cheer on a group. Backstabbing, however, was also always encouraged, and most of the crowds asked for it. They would cheer teammates on for attacking each other before the third was out. Trace thought about it hard before turning to look at her two opponents. Yes, they were both water and ice benders. Nothing she didn't have experience with fighting before. Would she risk taking on the Avatar by herself, or would she take on the boy.

Trace laughed, out loud and hysterically, as she slowly began to form the gauntlets onto her arms again. Waiting for Kuma to finish his return attack, Trace raced forward and aimed a single gauntlet toward his stomach. Had she chosen to take Zio's side? Only time would tell.
