Yami was lucky her wrist didn't break. The fireball was extinguished in the sandy floor of the arena, and Yami was pinned to the ground. Any normal person would start gushing. After all, it's not every day the the avatar steps on your hand and almost breaks it. Knowing there would be a strike coming, Yami rolled to the side, pushing her hand down into the loose hand before sliding it out from under Ziio's foot.

It was now or never. She jumped to her feet, bringing a flaming uppercut directly toward Ziio's chin. It would hurt. A lot. That is, if she even managed to hit. The avatar always seemed to be one step ahead of her, predicting her every move. She would just have to make herself unpredictable. A plan began to form in her mind, but it would take some time to execute.

Unpredictable? No, not quite. All Fire Benders were the same. They were all predictable. A lot of close-up fighting, a lot of CQC, a lot of fire and fire balls, and a lot the two intermixed. It was...cliché. Ziio smirked as she pretended like she was surprised by Yami's attack, then at the last minute, called upon some water to freeze Yami's hand in a giant block of ice. The ice doused the flames and locked Yami's hand away inside the heavy ball of ice that covered her entire fist.

The weight of the ice caused her hand to fall to the ground. Using her foot, Ziio pushed Yami back a bit, and with a few feet of space in between them, Ziio created a spear of ice, extended her sword so that it doubled in length. It was a long staff with a sharp blade at each end. With a smile, Ziio twirled her new weapon around, in an attempt to scare Yami with her newfound skill. Then, once her twirling was done, Ziio thrust the weapon forward, aiming the blade right for Yami's shoulder.

Yami had no idea how much blood she had lost. She didn't care, either. That spear only scratched that shoulder. She looked at herself as she lay there, her arm frozen in place again. She was covered in bloody scrapes, scratches, cuts, lacerations, and somehow even a burn. Apparently she'd burned herself at some point. Meanwhile, Ziio looked as though she hadn't been hit at all, which she basically hadn't. Yami sighed. She knew that she would never win.

But that's the problem with Yami. She's stubborn as heck. She smiled, letting a chuckle escape her lips. Ripping her hand from the ice, she stood back up and faced the girl in front of her. A child. Yami had slain many a person in her time (albeit against her will) and yet she was defeated by a mere child.

But Ziio wasn't just any child. She was the avatar. Yami had known from the start that this was a hopeless fight. She had no chance of winning, even though they were both limited to use of only one element. Fire and Ice? Some can make it work, but often, the combination ends poorly for the fire bender. "You're pretty good, kid, i'll give you that. Maybe sometime we can have a rematch. I know i've lost. I've known for a while. But, the audience is looking for some action. Why don't we give it to them?" Yami thrust her right hand forward, lightning shooting from her fingertips.
