2nd Tenkaichi Bending-kai Preliminary Rounds ~ Match 2 ~ Tsumi vs. Niya

“Hello folks, and welcome to the second annual Tenkaichi Bending-Kai Preliminary Tournament's Fourth Match!” The announcer said into his microphone, the noise blasting over the roaring crowd. The battle would take place in a circular Ba Sing Se arena, which had pools of water around the edges, as well as a pit of magma in the middle, which was surrounded by a pool of water. While there would normally be more tricks and traps set up, they were disabled for the preliminaries.

“Today, we'll be witnessing the fierce battle between Knight and Kamui Leihing. The gates will open on my mark. With the combatants set, and the battlefield ready for them, let's give them a warm welcome!”

Second seed match, Tsumi vs. Niya. Tsumi will have the honor of the first strike.

Knight, the undead servant of the Spirit King, slowly skulked out onto the battlefield. He had been permitted to keep his weapons, as his application had read “SWORD” under the field requiring his bending element. The officials, of course, had assumed that ‘sword-bending’ was some new art form, they hadn’t heard of, and that his weapons acted as metal storage, similar to a waterbender storing water in a pouch, for use at a later date.

He immediately drew his bow, firing a shot at his opponent’s leg. If possible, he wanted to control the flow of battle as much as he could, so he could remain on the offensive.

Kamui felt the rush of battle surge through her.  She had never been in an official fight, only training battles while she served in the army.  Her current goal was to travel the world and become the best swordswoman out there, and perhaps even collect a thousand swords like the Warrior Sage Benkei, from the ancient legend.  While she was travelling through the Earth Kingdom she heard of a tournament that called warriors from across all the Six Nations and Nippon.  Benders of all kinds, and benders of no elements, regular people and nobility and royalty.  All people came and competed, and Kamui was lucky enough to be one of the people to have moved on to the final stretch of the tournament, the preliminaries.

Tenka Musou, that was the title bestowed upon those who won.  Unrivalled Under All Heaven.  To be titled that at such a young age would do wonders for Kamui's reputation, and would even solidify her a spot in lore and legend.  She couldn't pass up the opportunity.  She sized up her opponent, Knight, was his name.  Sword-bending...apparently...was his skill.  Well, whatever it was, Kamui would out bend him!  She would even out-sword him if she had thought of using it...but no, this was a mostly bending tournament, so she stuck to her black flames.  Then, she felt a shooting pain up her leg that caused her to collapse to the ground.  As she looked at her knee she saw and arrow protruding from the front of the knee cap, and sticking out the back.

Shit.  She had made the worst of the beginners mistakes.  She had gotten distracted and allowed her opponent to practically hamstring her.  If her brother, Ieyasu, was here, he would constantly berate her for being an idiot, and tell her she was unworthy of her dream.  The idiot; just because he was Crown Prince and their parents favourite, and the tribe's favourite, he acted like he was better.  As Kamui was lifted onto a stretcher by the medics and brought off for healing and possible surgery, she tilted her head back to look at her opponent.  Knight, was it?  He could go far.  A worthy opponent.  They would need to have a rematch later, once Kamui had done some training.  Then he would be the one needing medical attention.  Yes.  Kamui Knightsbane, Greatest Swordswoman of the Land.  It sounded perfect.

The match is over! Honda Niya has forfeited! The Great Redeemer and Lord of Mortals and his character, Knight, will move on to the Heavyweight Division! Honda Niya will move on to the Lightweight Division! Congratulations!
