| Subject: Yamato Vai [8-Tails Jinchuuriki] ((COMPLETED)) Thu Sep 26, 2013 7:23 pm | |
| |BASICS| Name: Yamato Ami Vai (YAH-MA-TOE AH-MAE VIE) Age: Ninteen (AFTER TIMESKIP) Birthplace: Southern Water Tribe Current Residence: Upper Ring, Ba Sing Se, Earth Kingdom Rank: Eight-tailed Jinchuuriki Occupation: Specialist of the Earth Kingdom Metal Bender Division, gifted in the art of long distance (essentially a sniper.) Element: Earth/Metal Pets: N/A Weapons: While he mainly relies on his bending abilities and own physical capabilities, Yamato merely uses whatever he creates with his metal bending.
|OPTIONAL| Birthday: December 31st Blood type: O+ Hobbies: Pass the extensive military training and dabbling in material arts, Yamato enjoys participating in archery of any variety. Be it through means of merely bending a piece of scrap in his hands and in a fluid motion, springing it off towards a target, or through more traditional means with a bow and arrow. Neither of the latter examples are his particular favorites as he is satisfied in both, spending majority of his free time strengthening his ability in this aspect of weaponry. Quirks:
Yamato enjoys to hum, and does so frequently. A competent singer, while he never sings aloud, especially as he's mainly within the vicinity of his crew, he merely hums a simple melody to soothe his nervous instead. With the action originating from his childhood, something his mother did in order to calm any aching thoughts, he kept the embedded system within his mind, even after all these years. Yamato is known to his crew to be completely and utterly awful with the anyone of the female gender, quite the opposite of the ladies man, or Casanova. Having the tendency to freeze as if his interior was made of solid ice, or become a stammering mess of sweat, he's extraordinary in the battlefield, but when it comes to women, he's undoubtedly a wreak.

Character Theme: N/A
|APPEARANCE| Hair: With medium length hair, Yamato's locks are feathered along the side, growing longer towards the base of his neck. Hair usually shaggy, resembling close to an oddly cut broom, while it may appear like a mess at times, it is, in actually, quite well kept -- soft to the touch, and light as a feather. His bangs are scattered across his forehead, with his follicles resembling a color similar to faded auburn. Eyes: His eyes are bit beyond average, but not by a noticeable amount. His iris' are a stormy blue, similar to an ocean before the thunder rolls. Height: A tad bit taller for his age, Yamato stands at six feet and one inch. Clothes: A fondness for the more loose and comfortable attires, Yamato is often seen in more casual, slightly worn clothing that he has accumulated over the years of military duty. However, while his garments tend to lean towards the more eccentric side. In his free time, he wears a mesh of what he has in his closet, quite frankly, having no fashion sense. From leggings beneath his shorts, to low collared shirts with absurd designs that he had gathered from multiple nations, whatever he pulls out from his sack, he dons (although he enjoys his blue military coat that he received as a gift from his mother.) As for when in battle or on duty, he sports the traditional Earth Kingdom's military green uniform, marked with badges from his promotions. Skin: After years of excessive training, Yamato's skin is hardened with sporadic callouses, and decorated with small scars and other nicks from the grace of battle. With his color more towards the tanner side, his complexion, while be it exposed to plenty of harsh sunlight and dry terrain, is quite clear, with the exception of the freckles along the bridge of his nose and flickering onto his upper cheeks. Body Type: Being a well built man, undergoing extensive military training, he's blatantly broad, though not to the point when his muscular body is bulging through his shirt. Appearing like any specialist in the military, his body features, however, are quite well-defined. With a chiseled chin and firm abdomen, he undoubtedly keeps himself fit. As for the front of his face, his features are more softened, resulting in him appearing younger than he truly is. Image:

Rough sketch of Yamato leisurely relaxing. Images of both present and past Yamato, with the exception of his sister, Mira, in the middle. Yamato around the age of his sister's accident. Images of Yamato in his favorite attire. Sporadic candid of Yamato being, well, Yamato with his sister Mira, or rather, this being what could have been.
|CHARACTERISTICS| Personality: A soft-spoken observer, Yamato is essentially the kind of soul that goes with the flow. He often doesn't protest, whether opposing adversaries call for it or not, as he's quite insecure about his own abilities due to events in his younger years. He appears as a mellow type of bloke, without much care to matters and merely going along with the leading voice, but not out of it being his nature, but moreso due to the fact that he is too timid to say what he yearns to after his sister's death. Keeping in all of his thoughts close to his heart, his true words are never uttered in fear of both ridicule and because of his lack of faith in himself. While he wants nothing more than to be a head, rather than a follower, he's unable to rid himself of the embedded notion that he does obeying orders best, believing he isn't fit to progress after the sins he believes he has committed. He's most commonly cool and collected under all circumstances as of late, simply managing and becoming accustomed to his way of "life", but there are times when he wants to merely roar at his instigator, and rather than do so, well, he lapses into a stuttering mess of a state. Personal Strengths:
+ A determined, ambitious soul + Desire to help others + Creative thinking + Kindness beyond compare + Optimistic
Personal Weaknesses:
- His clumsiness - Inability to voice his opinions - Tendency to belittle himself - Incredibly self-conscious and insecure - Suppress his courage with fear
Hamartia: His inability to accept himself the way he is, especially after embedding within him that he was the reasoning behind his sister's death. Yamato doesn't see himself as a hero - as someone of worth, therefore allowing others to walk on him as if he's the dirt beneath their soles, unable to forgive himself and see he wasn't the cause. He doesn't have the self-respect he deserves, nor the courage to believe in his own capabilities. Personal Hero: Onao Peng Dreams and Ambitions: He dreams to one day prove himself to be worthy - to anyone; to everyone.
Likes:
Humming Drumming his fingers to sporadic beats His mother, dearly in a family way Practicing his sniping Overall, bettering himself
Dislikes:
Succumbing to unruly orders His inability to speak his mind Feeling intimidated, as he often does Domineering lieutenants Ridicule, at its finest
Brief History:
It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It's an even more surprise when you're the reason behind the death. Or at least, so you naively believe. And, for Yamato Vai when it came to the death of his sister Mira, well, he was the most effected by the occurrence than most for such reasoning -- unrightfully so, should you consider the latter portion.
Seven-years-old; an age of both careless and curiosity. It's an age where you feel as if your dreams come alive with the most vibrate of colors, and where your adventures unfold to lengths farther than you could imagine. This was precisely the way to describe Yamato in that year, regretfully stirring up the heedless notion that his younger sister and him should journey out towards the stream running through a valley just beyond the Town of Dara, where his mother recently transferred them in order to maintain a close relationship with their aunt, Akira Peng, and her husband, Lei Kung. While the thought of the exploration seemed like an innocent idea as if any, multiple things were unaccounted for.
Beginning with the weather, abrupt storms rolled into the village meaning flooding of the river would've been at its peak. It was customary for its depth to double upon receiving such consistent rainfall since the morning, which proved to be a dangerous warning enough. However, one they ignored, as they were young. While their parents warned them of playing too closely to the river on numerous occasions, especially under the consideration of how neither could swim, they knew nothing of their children's antics whilst at work, having full faith in their eldest child.
Another aspect that was forgotten was Yamato's sister, Mira. An albino child two years younger than her brother, her skin was as pale as snow, and her hair was almost as light as a cloud with faded tints of gold. Her eyes were mutated, displaying an unearthly hue of red, and, although soft, withheld a frigid touch that caused for many other eyes to stare and scrutinize. That flowed into the final detail -- their unfamiliarity with its inhabitants. They knew nothing of the people that resided in the quaint town, specifically the children and how they would react to such an unique girl, let alone newcomers, in general. Naive and young, they believed the world was a place where pain was nonexistent and ridicule was unheard of, and so, upon finding another group of children along the river side, they seemed as if only to be asking for attention in the worse kind of way.
The duo were brought up sheltered, rarely ever leaving their home. They hardly had the experience when it came to interacting with others, thus believing everyone were like their parents -- kind, sincere, and trustworthy. Because of this, whatever game the opposing children prompted them to play, they went along with it. Yamato ignored the children teasing Mira; he ignored the children circling Mira. And, most importantly, Yamato allowed the children to push Mira into the stream just behind her, believing it was all apart of the game he somehow was forced to lead. He was left to helplessly watch her drown moments after.
Presently, while Yamato believes he has moved on from his sister's death, the effects of his terrible leadership stil haunt him to this day -- he couldn't be more wrong. If he had been more of a leader, he believes, he could have noticed something peculiar -- been more observant. Or, if he had been more of a leader, he could have been more quick-thinking that day, and gotten to an adult faster. Heck, if he had been more of a leader, he would have known playing beside the river was a bad idea from the start. shouldn't have been so gullible, so naive in his thinking, if he had just been more of a leader -- if he had just spoken up and been the elder brother he was suppose to be, rather than merely accepting his fate and allowing his baby sister to die in his hands.
His "what if's" and million of retakes of the situation caused him to develop into a recluse or sorts as the years of strictly embedded such notions in his skin progressed, never really partaking in conversation or speaking, for that matter, as he was afraid -- utterly timid, although merely displaying a cool demeanor to hide his pain. Becoming quite self-conscious since the events of that day by the river, he had lost complete faith in himself, and so, once he was old enough, he enlisted in the Earth Kingdom's military to test his strengths and see if he could be of worth with enough discipline and practice. After five years, joining when he was sixteen, he assumed the position as specialist for the Earth Kingdom Metal Bender, proving he had somewhat of a knack for sniping. It's the career he has been pursuing as of late -- that is, until he will be later called in by his uncle to become something of more worth than he can image.
