2nd Tenkaichi Bending-kai Heavyweight Division ~ Quarter-Final Rounds ~ Match 3 ~ Kouzai vs. Stephy

“Hello folks, and welcome to the first annual Tenkaichi Bending-Kai Heavyweight Quarter Finals!  We are about to begin our Third Match!” The announcer said into his microphone, the noise blasting over the roaring crowd. The battle would take place in a long, rectangular Imperial Arena.  Sand covered the floor, and though rectangular, it had rounded edges.  Stands stretched around the outside, and backed into the stands where the private boxes were was the Imperial Palace and the Emperor's Box, as well as mansions and palaces belonging to important nobles who also had their own private boxes attached to their homes.  

The entire place was of made of sandstone and marble and was fabulously decorated. A massive golden brazier stood above the Emperor's Box, being supported by two Tengu.  It was on fire, and the fire was said to never go out.  It was white fire too.  In the arena there were several pools of water around the edges. Many tricks and traps were riddled everywhere through this arena, to be activated by Mr. Showbiz's will.

“Today, we'll be witnessing the fierce battle between Raijin Ezofuji-no-Tsukuyomi and Aryianna Yan. The gates will open on my mark. With the combatants set, and the battlefield ready for them, let's give them a warm welcome!  Now before we begin, let's remind our fighters that they'll each have 500HP and will roll a random number of 50 instead of 20 for the Heavyweight Matches.  Attack and Defence stay the same, at 10.  Raijin will have the honour of the first strike!  Now without further ado...”

Raijin let out a heavy sigh as he left the gate. He was home. Literally. The Imperial Arena was built as an extension of the palace, with the Emperor's Box being connected to a part of the Emperor's Chambers. Other nobility had their mansions connected to their private boxes on the opposite side of the Emperor's. Raijin saw the burning white flame brazier support by Tengu and snorted. That was his family all right. Incredibly ornate to the point of wasteful foolishness. Pompous too, he couldn't forget pompous. Izanagi had probably lit that flame, no doubt. Him or Hiruko, but since Hiruko was also travelling abroad it had to be Izanagi. "Well, this is no time for dallying on old thoughts," supposed Raijin, ignoring the fact that half his family was sitting up in the Emperor's box cheering him on. His cousins, his siblings, his uncles and aunt.

His father wasn't there though. Spirit King Owlan was too busy keeping spiritual balance and learning the secrets of his powers. Raijin shrugged, focused his mind back on the fight and sized up his opponent and almost burst out laughing as he saw who it was. His cousin of the House of Yan, Aryianna. The oldest of his generation, at age 30. Raijin smirked, there were no tricks or underhanded deeds Raijin could hide from her. Sparring constantly as youths prevented them from having secrets from each other. They knew everything about each other's habits, personalities and fighting styles. This was going to be a fight of pure skill and strength. That's how Raijin liked it anyway. "Let's do this," he said to himself, then lunged forward and shot a bold of lighting and his cousin.

Aryianna smiled as she realized she was home. Right beside the palace she had grown up in and called a summer, fall and spring home. Winters were spent in Tenchi, high up in the mountains in the old stone palace that was there. Then, Aryianna smiled further as she saw her opponent was her cousin, Raijin. One of the younger cousins, but definitely the most interesting. He was the unpredictable black sheep who enjoyed traveling the world, heavy drinking and sleeping with as many girls as he could find over politics. Though, in his own right he was quite the scholar, travelling the world, earning his own keep for the most part. Helping people, and in turn, learning about them as well. She admired him for it, though she hadn't seen him in two years. Last she had heard of him he was traversing the Southern Earth Kingdom, but now here he was, standing before them as the two prepared to fight at the palace they had both grown up in.

Raijin started the fight by shooting a bolt of lightning at her. An easy to avoid attack, and Aryianna had no problem attracting the lightning to her fingers, and with a series of quick movements, redirected it back at Raijin. He remembered how they trained tirelessly at lightning redirection when they were kids, playing lightning tennis as the Ezofuji kids called it. Juggling the lightning back and forth, constantly redirecting the same stream for hours on end, until someone was either hit, or gave up, at which point the lightning was released into the sky. Aryianna hoped Raijin wouldn't get a wise idea like starting up one of those lightning tennis rounds just for fun.

The match is officially over! Time is up! The winner is Stephy and her character, Aryianna Yan! Winning by an official forfeit of her opponent (I have received contact from Kouzai, who feels more than one character in the tournament is slowly beginning to wear on him)! Stephy will move on to the semi-final round of the Heavyweight Division! Congratulations!
