Izayoi Shrine

The Izayoi Shrine is said to be the place Nagi was laid to rest after his final battle with a very powerful demon which claimed his life, and is also where the spirit of Yamata-no-Orochi was sealed by Sceter after he defeated the demon. Eventually the cave was turned into a shrine containing the sword Tsumugari, the sword used by Nagi to defeat the many demons he killed in his lifetime. It is said that the cave itself was once Yamata-no-Orochi's lair and hideout between his annual sacrifices. And so was the place where Sceter placed his soul to rest.

Izayoi Temple

A temple built many centuries ago after Nagi's body was laid to rest in the Izayoi Shrine and his sword, Tsumugari, enshrined. It is currently managed by Mikazuki, the head priest and caretaker of the Izayoi and Tsumugari Shrines, and of the Izayoi Temple. It is the central place of worship in Eastern Nippon, and many travelers of the region pass by here for a blessing on their travels.
