Rafa the Bald Eagle

Appearance: Like most bald eagles, Rafa's head has white feathers, while the rest of his body had brown feathers, while his tail has more white feathers.

Personality: Although he has a serious look to him (like most bald eagles), he is actually very carefree. He loves to fly around and enjoy himself. He also loves hunting for small animals for his dinner. He is happy and fun-loving, but he also has a serious side.

He is very protective of his master, Kaia. If she needs him, then he will be there. Sometimes, he shows up without her calling for him just to get her out of a tight spot. He is a loyal friend and will always stay true to his master.
Background: Kaia Menma found Rafa in the forest. The year was 735 AO, just after Kaia ran away from home. He had been attacked, although Kaia had no idea what had attacked it.  Kaia was actually hunting for food, and when she found him, she was ready to kill him, but realized he was injured. She didn't know if his wounds had been infected, so she thought it would be best not to eat him.

However, when Kaia was about to leave him to die, she looked at his pleading eyes, and took compassion on him. She took him with her, nursing him back to health. After he was healthy, she couldn't bring herself to kill him, even if she was out of food. So she decided to let him go. He could fly now, so she told him to fly away. But he didn't. Instead, he perched himself on her arm, and sat there. Kaia smiled at him, and decided to keep him.

That night, as Kaia was starting a fire, he flew off. Kaia looked around, but couldn't find him. He returned to her camp a few hours later, holding a dead rabbit in his mouth, and he gave it to her. Kaia smiled, and cooked the rabbit, and that's when she decided it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep Rafa around.

After that, they became close friends, traveling together everywhere. When Kaia took a bounty hunter job in a town outside of Ba-Sing-Se, he became her partner. They work together to do Kaia's jobs, and have fun together when she has some time off.
