Background: Charlie intercepted this hawk as it was delivering a letter to a nobleman in his journey the Fire Capitol. Being a sharp-minded and agile thief, Charlie stole the hawk and fled the capitol the next day. Charlie gave him the name Mamoru, and at first, the hawk was stubborn and angry at the little boy for taking him from his home and master. Soon, however, when he realized how clever and quick the boy was, he wanted in on the action. Being a messenger hawk is tedious, and he wanted to help the fire-bender steal and fight. It was Mamoru himself who inspired the boy to become even more keen and quick than he already was.
