In the Palace

Li walked into a store and looked at all the items the seller had. An old man walked up and started to talk to Li trying to sell him some of the useless junk that filled the store. Li finally said, "No I don't want to buy anything." The man then pointed out the door and said, "Then get out of my store." Li muttered to himself, turned and left. He then heard something that shocked him, but he knew would happen. He heard his name and then yelling.

"Rio you idiot," Li said as he watched from a distance his little brother fighting off the guards. Then some noticed him and Li's eyes went big and he got in a defense stance. Then one shouted, "Get the other prince! Now!" the guard pointed to Li and then the men took off running to Li. Li had no idea what to do, he did not want to harm the men trying to protect him. He then got out of the position and put his hands to his side. "Take me," he said which caused the guards to step back from the shock, "are you all going to do it or do you want a fight?" They all shook their heads and then grabbed him and his little brother and marched off to the palace.

Rio looked up at his brother and then back down at his feet as they were being led back to the palace. He felt guilty and now they were both going to be in trouble and grounded for at least two months.

"Sorry I screwed that up Li. Dad is going to be really mad at us both. But I'll cover for you so you don't get in trouble."

"Oh stop." Li said as they were being taken to the palace, he shook violently and the guards let go. "I am not some prisioner, I am the Prince and you will treat me like it. Not let go of my brother." They did and he continued, "I will take the blame, it was my idea to sneak out in the first place. I can handle dad, you on the other hand can't." He smiled and then looked up at the palace. They were going to be in so much trouble.

"You will cover up for me little brother." Li said, "I am the older brother, I can take the hit."

((No it was actually going to be a secret only Li was going to know that he set fire to the library. He was going to make it look like an accident.))

Rio frowned and crossed his arms as they were marched through the halls. He was annoyed that his brother wanted to take the heat but at the same time glad of it. One day though, Li would be king and Rio would hopefully obtain more power through being the brother of a king.

But what Li would do with that power would remain to be seen. The guards pushed both boys into the throne room.

"Wait here boys. Your father is in a meeting right now, he should be out soon."

He walked away closing the doors behind him.

Li walked down the halls, not looking forward at anyone else but ahead. He was going to be in charge soon, and everything was going to change. He looked at the guard bringing then, new everything would replace the old. He let out a grunt and then continued walking.

"Don't push me," Li said but was already pushed, he made a fist and started to move it back when his father's voice echoed through the room. "Stop Li." Li let go of the guard and he left closing the doors.

Li turned and gave his dad a fake smile and Akio said, "Li don't think a smile will get you out of this." He looked at Rio and frowned, "Why did you two leave and then right a fake note saying you two were kidnapped?"

"Well it was my idea to go out for awhile dad...and I thought it would be a practical joke with the kidnap note. We never get to go outside the walls and I gave Li the idea that we should go out and explore some of Ba Sing Se outside the palace." He looked down at the ground not really wanting to eye his father.

Akio looked at Rio and then at Li. "No more leaving the palace, you will have your lessons within the walls. You can only leave in times of danger or if I am with you. Now go to your rooms, I have work to do." He turned and started down the hall to his work room. Li's fist opened up and he let out a sigh, "Just listing to him makes me mad." He turned and walked to his room.

"But Dad-" Rio began but Akio had already walked away. Being enraged that his father didn't listen once again, he turned around and stalked off to his room and slammed the door closed with such force that bits of it flew into the hallway as he closed it with bending, which was the only way(most of the time) to close a door in the palace.
