| Long ago, there had been two bulls on this earth. One was white, he was Darkness. The other one was black, he was Light. These two fought against each other, trying to be the winner. But there was always a balance between these two. Each of these bulls had followers, gods, goddesses, immortals. Two of these were Nyx and Helios. The goddess of Night and the god of the sun. These two did not liked each other, but they never fought in the Otherworld. Their sons and daughters at earth did fight.
Nowadays, these fights still go on. Vampyres, the children of Nyx, and elves, the children of Helios, built houses for those who are marked. In Mystic Falls, there is an House of Night and a House of Day. There are regularly quarrels between those two houses. But by now there had never been really much problems.
But the High Priestess at the House of Night and the High Priest at the House of Day have decided that they wanted to rule the world. To do so, they have joined each other, so that they have more chances and are stronger.
In this time, two friends, Alasdair and Rukia, were both marked. Alasdair was marked by Helios and Rukia by Nyx. They try to stay friends, eventhough that is not really easy. They are both gifted with affinities to all elements of their god or goddess. They also have the highest position a fledgling could have. These two are chosen to stop everything that seems to go wrong.
