Brief history: Aang was named after an avatar from long ago, although he never really heard of him. Born from an illicit affair bettween one of the royal airbender guards and a commoner from the kingdom of the Earth, he and his father were expelled from the Temple of the Northern Winds, as soon as Aang was born. His father died not long ago from a disease contracted while travelling leaving Aang at an orphanage very early on. When he was 13 he ran from the said orphanage and joined a mercenary band from Omashu called the 'Simling Serpents'. He sent the next 3 years practicing his swordmanship and such, until shortly after his sixteenth birthday the 'Smiling Serpents' got a contract with the Temple of Southern Winds to get them rid of some marauders who were plaging their lands. There Aang learned how to properly airbend, however rejected being honed master not wanting to spend his life at the Temple.
He is now back at Omashu looking for his next contract.
