Crimson

Abandoned at birth, young Crimson was found as a baby, on the ground in the Vermilion City Slums. Taken to an orphanage by a kindhearted stranger, he was named after the location he was found- Crimson Avenue.

As Crimson grew, he found he was more skilled at manipulating his peers, than playing with them. Soon, he discovered that the same tricks and lies worked on the maids and officials, too. Eventually, he managed to persuade one of the local homeless to teach him to pickpocket, and with the money he stole, paid a swindler to teach him to sell. For years, he wandered the slums, trading stolen money for skills- then, one day, he got caught. An accidental brush in someone’s pocket, and someone noticed him- an authority was called, and he was imprisoned.

In prison, he continued his same practice. He swindled prisoners out of their meals, and traded them to other prisoners, in exchange for combat training, lessons on how to quickly improvise a weapon, and how to overpower several opponents at once.

Then, one day, his plans were thrown for a loop- he woke up to the stench of rotting corpses. Around him, everyone in the prison had been murdered, save himself. A silver-haired man, whose name he would later learn was Itami Kurushii, stood where his cell’s bars used to be.

“Crimson, is it? Word has reached me, of your dealings and skills. Come...there is much work to be done.”

Crimson followed, without a word.
