A rise in tension (open)

The cool night air swept through the room, as Rakurai  lay quietly resting in his bedroom in his small house in Ba Sing Se. Sleep, it seemed was having a hard time finding him this evening as he restlessly rolled from side to side.

The city had been in a state of unrest lately, and he couldn't shake the fact that something bad may be around the corner at any minute. These thoughts and many others plagued his mind, as night began to creep into day.

Sliding off the edge of the bed, Rakurai found his way to the small patio just outside his bedroom . Eleanor was asleep in the room just next door. He could feel her sleeping, feel the vibrations through the floor, as she snored peacefully in her slumber.

From his perch on the 2nd floor, Rakurai had a beautiful view of Ba Sing Se's middle ring wall as well as small glimpses of nearby mountains. He took these in, as daylight began to creep into the horizon.

Suddenly and with a flourish, a blast of Fire rose up from the street below. Instinctively, Rakurai slid back, andbent the air around him, pushing the flames a safe distance away.  Craning and peering, he tried to see what had caused the sudden burst of flames, but to no avail.

Once again bending the air around him , Rakurai quickly found himself on the roof. He could not plainly see 3 hooded men running from the Ba Sing Se guard , who we're using all of their earthbending talents to try and apprehend the culprits, but were not having very much luck. Rakurai suddenly felt the need to check on the safety of his daughter and slid back in to his home. Even if he could feel her safety through the floor, her heart steadily beating , still snoring in her sleep, the parent in him would not let himself rest until he knew for certain that she was okay.

As he expected she slept soundly right where he had left her. The flutter in his heart began to subside, and begin to turn to anger.

he felt like his safety had been encroached upon. He felt violated. This wasn't supposed to happen and Ba Sing Se. He felt somebody should do something, and he wasn't the kind of person to wait around for somebody else to do it.

Shion was never a morning person, truth is, sleep is totally not in his system. For what he'd known, in his fifteen years of youthful life, he had never slept for more than two hours per day, and had woken up as fine as ever. He had never liked staying indoors, even when the bed bugs are nigh, he would just borrow a kindhearted resident's sleeping bag and find himself a nice roof top with the most perfect view of the starlit heavens above.

Today was like always, he was counting triplets of stars idly while raising his hand craving and capture twinkles in his palm, placing them in his mind's pocket. Today was special, he had collected two more orange stars than the other two days he'd stayed inside this huge fortress of Ba Sing Se. He smiled smugly as he counted a total of 3619 white stars, 397 blue ones, 103 purples, 58 yellows, 29 red stars, and 4 oranges. Now that was a new record. He pulled out his pocket and examined each stars one by one, noting their sizes and difference in brightness.

VHAMMM. His stars are all in scorching flames, burnt down to ashes.

He jolted out of his trance only to face a bright red blast in reality. Three shadowy humanoid ran past under his beautiful roof. "Hey, I SAID HEY." The three sneakers stopped simultaneously, one of them turned towards the source. "Give back my stars." Shion insisted. His silver orbs had a gleam of the redness of the flames.

Three pairs of eyes stared at him like idiots. One of them recovered quicker, the hidden smirk was obvious in his harsh tone, "And why would we listen to b*stards with crooked minds, right boys?"

"HEY YE DON' TALK TE ME LIKE THAT!" Shion fumed. A massive black claw formed itself over his right arm. He swooped down to them. They'd jumped on top of roofs, for a moment Shion thought he'd seen someone came down from a roof and went inside. They'd just passed that roof making loud thuds on it. Loud.

The chase had just began.
