Bringing Hope

Nanuq followed in Varicks footsteps; entering the throne room, it laid quiet, still as a rock, the echoes from their shoes was the only thing heard as they entered. Looming in the distance, stood an empty throne; the crown resting firmly on the left arm of the chair. Nanuq dared not approach the throne as he stopped a few feet from it and glanced around the throne room; not a single soul was in sight nor seemed to be living within the palace of Omashu, "Where could everyone be?" he asked mostly to himself, "You think they moved everyone to the front lines including the king and his guardsmen?" he said, now asking Varick.

The ominous atmosphere of the empty throne room worried Nanuq as he thought of a trap lying somewhere in the room to ward off any unwelcome guests, "Be careful" he warned Varick, "There may be traps". He was unsure whether there was or not but then again, he was unsure of a great deal of many things in the Earth Kingdom, much less Omashu.
