Hair: Dark brown hair that goes to just above her shoulder line. It is tied up in a braided bun, with braids running around her head to the front.
Eyes: Average sized eyes that are a piercing blue, almost gray.
Height: 5'6"
Clothes: She normally wears a simple wool tunic that is light blue symbolizing the water tribe. She wears pants that puff out near the calves for easy movement, and light blue slippers. She wears her mothers snow coat, which is made of leather with a large hood lined with fur, it has the symbol for "Hope" stitched onto the right shoulder.
Skin: Smooth tan skin. She has some rough spots on her arms from scratching in the middle of the night as a nervous habit.
Body Type: She is slim with slightly muscular arms from practicing bending.
|CHARACTERISTICS|
Personality: She thinks she is strong, but she's actually not. She is definitely not the greatest water-bender in the Southern Water tribe, and she doesn't know if she ever will be. She puts out a positive attitude with almost everyone she meets to hide the mental anguish. She never would admit that she doesn't think she's good enough. But she doesn't. She won't let it show though.
Personal Strengths: She is determined, she will do whatever it takes to be a better water-bender. She is strong from practicing when she isn't busy, and she isn't afraid to make people feel better about themselves.
Personal Weaknesses: She is too determined to become better. And she thinks she can't do it. She doesn't think she's good enough for anything. But she weakens herself by trying to make people think she is.
Hamartia: She loves too much. She would rather save someone else than herself.
Personal Hero: Her personal hero is almost anyone who has mastered water-bending. That is one of her only dreams in life, aside from finding her father. But she pushes that thought into the depths of her mind.
Dreams and Ambitions: She wants to become a great water-bender and healer. And be able to help people where it is needed.
Likes: She likes penguin sledding, water-bending, helping with the fishing, sleeping, and drawing.
Dislikes: Boats, although she is a water-bender, the rocking on a boat makes her sick to her stomach. She doesn't like being watched by many people while she practices bending, as she is self-conscious. She doesn't like when people see her cry.
Brief History: Etsuko was born in the Southern Water Tribe 17 years ago. Her name means Joy Girl, she has managed to stay true to that name outside of herself. But the anguish inside has left her heart bitter and angry with herself. When she was a young girl, her mother became sick with pneumonia, and died not long after. Her father was broken after losing the love of his life, and rather than focusing his attention on her, he focused on a corner of the wall in their house. Of course he still helped her sometimes, and tried to raise her as best he could, but something in him had snapped. One day when Etsuko woke, he was just gone.
She was 13 at the time, and decided to focus her life on her bending and healing, to make sure that no one could ever feel the pain she felt then. She hardened herself and worked; she never was stronger, she couldn't make large waves like the other water-benders. The pain grew all the time, and she couldn't put a stop to it. Eventually, she decided she couldn't stand being there anymore, and wanted to gain more knowledge. She was leaving to the Northern Water Tribe to learn water-bending from a master.
