| Owlan sat on the Vermilion Throne, in the brand new throne room which he had redone after the creation of the Empire. The throne, and the throne room, were now fit for him, and all subsequent Emperors that were to follow. Today, however, Owlan was to meet, interview and them hopefully promote one of his own soldiers, personally. Erolass had suggested this woman, who had been put in charge of Erolass's personal defence force by Naina a few months ago, which struck Owlan as odd. Erolass always wanted nothing to do with his siblings or the goings on of running the country, and now he was suggesting a soldier to be promoted; and not just one rank, but several. Sergeant Mehn Suzuki would become, if all went well, Second Lieutenant Mehn Suzuki, a commanding officer--the bottom of the list, but an officer nonetheless. Owlan at first wondered of Erolass had fallen for this woman, but after a letter of recommendation--several in fact, almost 12--hand written personally from Erolass that detailed her exemplary service, dedication and loyalty to not just him, but the Empire and Monarchy. Owlan was impressed by what he read, and had recently set up a meeting to meet with this Mehn Suzuki, and discuss the possibility of promotion. Owlan wanted to meet this woman personally, and not only that he wanted to see her dedication and loyalty for himself. Someone like her was admirable in Owlan's eyes, and would always be rewarded, very very very well. But Owlan needed to be sure that this was genuine, and not just an act--though he felt from his brothers sudden, temporary, change of heart and character that it was. Owlan adjusted himself in his thrown; he could not check the time, as he had not had the time to put a sundial nearby the throne yet, but he would get to it...eventually. Owlan sighed, he hoped Mehn would not be late, though not that Owlan was one to judge, he rarely was punctual himself. | |
