| | Prince Roman | Slowly, the petite seven-year-old opened his eyes. He didn't remember closing them. He never remembered closing him, though. He always just slept. Roman realized he was lying on a soft surface, hands and feet bound unnecessarily with thick but slim rope, ensuring that his tiny wrists and ankles won't slip out in his struggles.
He was too tired to fight. His chest hurt.
Was he supposed to be here?
Gruff voices managed to find their way into his room, which was actually pretty small and barred by a single door. In the dim light, Roman peered around him with hazy vision. Such an odd place to be. Where was Madam Yeye, his caretaker? It was time to take his medicine. Or so he assumed. He always woke up when it was time to take his medicine. He also always woke up to Madam Yeye. So where was Madam Yeye?
The voices continued, escalating. They seemed angry.
"What do you mean the king won't pay the ransom! We've been keeping his kid alive two days, only for this bullshit?"
Roman yawned. Two days? No wonder he was so hungry. What was a ransom? He didn't know. Never did and will know probably. All that mattered was sleep, food and medicine. Sleep, food and medicine. Sometimes there was playtime, and that was with Haru and Kihana, but mostly he slept and ate and waited for Madam Yeye to give him his medicine.
A sudden strip of light assaulted his retinas, poor as they were. He squinted, and attempted to bring his arms up, but of course he was bound so thoroughly, it was useless. A string of raspy coughs tore from his throat, chest heaving. Right. He still hadn't taken his medicine.
"You better pray, kid," a man, a pirate said. "Your daddy doesn't want you back. But we're going to find someone that hopefully will. Count your blessings."
Roman's brow furrowed. He didn't know what that meant.
The man left the room, slamming the door behind him. Roman lay in the sallow light, trying to calm his breathing, wanting nothing more than to sleep.
So he did. | |

| Tsuyoshi had sailed for awhile, following numerous tips from several reliable and unreliable sources until he finally made it to the Dark Bender State of the Vermillion Dragon Empire, he docked his three person boat in a recreational boating place, while he looked at the big galleons and war ships, some he suspected to be a pirate ship, which is what he was hoping for, he had heard that Roman had been kidnapped by pirates, but was unsure.
Tsuyoshi stopped by the nearest tavern, a local hotspot for gossip and other things, he strided in, obviously seeming out of place in his northern water tribe clothes, he had discarded his usual robe and cloak, and now wore a vest and two shirts.
He walked to the counter and sat down, "A light beverage, if you would please. he asked the tavern owner as he sat down, "Also, have you seen any pirates recently come in and dock..? he asked him, quietly, inaudible to most of the rest of the tavern.

| Laurent had been sitting there for hours.
Whenever he got upset, or needed to think, he could always sit on the dock. The calm water always soothed him.
"Why couldn't I have been born a water bender?"
His element, however, was the least of his problems. The world was at war with strange creatures, called magicians, and they were like nothing the world has ever seen. His brother had been killed by them, and they destroyed the elemental kingdom in a day. And to top it all off, the young prince Roman has been kidnapped.
He slowly got up, his once cold eyes filled with tears.
"How could this be happening? I can't let anything else happen to my Kingdom. I will do whatever is necessary to protect my citizens."
He was about to get up when he saw a boat over the horizon.
"What? That ship should be in the war, what is it doing here?"
Laurent was usually in the know of what happened, so he knew something was up with the ship.
"They... They must be pirates!"
His mind filled with rage. How dare pirates just waltz around his kingdom!? They will probably steal from his citizens too!
"I can't believe they have gotten so close to our shores, the navy should have- oh."
He remembered that the navy has been sent to right the magicians. His mind cringed at the word. The word alone was disgusting enough to kill.
"Well, I guess I'll have send them away on my own."
The teen watched as the pirate ship slowly creeped along the waters. Then, he suddenly jumped high through the air, being propelled by a dark blast, like a rocket. It may have almost destroyed the dock, but he decided it would probably be worth it. As he got closer the the pirate ship, he wondered what type of filthy scum would be on it. Little did he know, it held the Water Prince.
He landed softly on the deck, eyeing the dirty pirate crew.
"I suggest you leave now, or face the consequences."
He may not look very intimidating, but his bending prowess was like nobody else.

| | Darin "Ba'sill" |
A young boy straddled the coastline, balancing haphazardly with the tide and playing one foot almost directly in front of the other. The almost catlike balance was hindered by a large traveling pack hoisted on the kid's back. It'd taken less than a day to get to the Dark Bender State of the Vermilion Dragon Empire by air. From there Ba'sill made his way to the coastline, where rumors of an unidentified warship was moored. There was absolutely no reason for a warship to be anywhere but in battle, so Ba'sill went there first to investigate.
Crimson eyes shined with uncanny intelligence as he scanned the coastline. The ship was 'hidden' under an outcropping under a cliff; they'd thought such petty actions would be enough to hide it? A short distance away from the cliff was an old, leaky tavern. Ba'sill abandoned his traveling pack and skillfully scaled the cliff. Entering the tavern, he came just in time to catch the last wisps of a question:
"... pirates recently come in and dock?"
Darin scoffed. "No one's ever sure if a ship has pirates on it or not. I can tell you there's an unidentified warship moored right below us. The bastards do a poor job of hiding it, right they do."
The tavern owner sputtered at him. "Get-get out! Can't you see this is no place for kids?!"
Ba'sill rolled his eyes. Do I sound like a kid? he thought, but said instead, "Fine then."
Outside the shop, he allowed the salty air to play with his braid as he glared critically down to where the ship was.
Suddenly, when the wind cleared, he heard a loud shout. Then, a burst of fire. Firebending pirates? How ironic.
"Oi, how did you get here?" a pirate screamed loud enough for him to hear. Idiot. However, Ba'sill had the sense that someone got to the pirates before he did. Someone strong.
Ba'sill climbed down the cliff, careful not to slip to his death, and bent the sand to cushion his fall when he jumped prematurely in his haste. Bending a large column of sand around him, Ba'sill hurtled the sand at the ship, throwing a shock through the entire video and without a doubt throwing off the balance of whoever was on it.
He knew Roman would be sleeping. What else did the damn kid do?

| Tsuyoshi quickly turned to look at Ba'sill before the tavern owner kicked him out, he layed his money on the table and quickly followed the kid.
Tsuyoshi sighed as he knew he couldn't make that fall without assistance, he saw Ba'sill down below and then Laurent further away, "Hmm... Maybe I'll get assistance here." he said to himself unhooking his chain and hook from around his waist, he then aimed the hook to the crows nest of the ship and used it to swing down onto the boat.
Tsuyoshi landed right at the steering wheel, and to his disappointment, three pirates were already right there, Tsuyoshi backed up a bit, "Come on... We can settle this reasonably." he said smiling, before his hook came loose of the crows nest and the back of the hook hit the heads of the three pirates, knocking them immediately unconscious.
Tsuyoshi now began to sneak around the ship carefully, looking for Roman.
